Live music, documentary, and tongue-in-cheek humour are combined perfectly in alt-folk band Jonah Blacksmith’s film concert. The seven-man-strong band, with roots in Danish fishing town Thisted and brothers Simon and Thomas Alstrup as frontmen, have already gained a firm footing on the Danish music scene. At SPOT, they can be experienced in both musical and filmic format, when their live performance is mixed with fragments of the documentary “In the Middle of Nowhere” by Joachim Plaetner Kjeldsen as well as more traditional music videos. The band name refers to the brothers’ grandfather, Johannes Alstrup, a blacksmith – and reputedly the strongest man in Thisted. The film sequences follow the brothers as they follow in the footsteps of their legendary grandfather, who lives on in their music.
